Stop blaming the messenger!!!

This is a common mistake that I see many business owners make that can cost them a fortune. I am sure that you are familiar with newspaper ads, business cards, flyers, brochures, direct mail letters, the phone, e-mail, posters, post cards, signs, etc. All these things named above are your marketing vehicles. They are your messenger and they deliver your marketing message. The biggest mistake people make is to confuse the vehicle with the message I often hear statements like  "I tried a newspaper ad and it does not work for us" or "Direct mail does not work in my industry".

An important business strategy that is exceptional!

It is just as important at times to study poorly run businesses as it is exceptional ones. Why? As you otherwise could miss out on an important business strategy that is exceptional! Businesses that set poor examples are important to your marketing as you can observe the bad examples that they offer and then do the opposite. It really is an effective marketing approach So how to you profit from these poor business examples? Next time your experience a business with irritating or bad behaviour write down exactly what they have done and then do the exact opposite to them in your business. Learn from their mistakes and make sure that you do not make the same mistakes.

What does a Mafia boss know about Marketing?

Lots!!! How you may ask? Because they make their clients an offer that they cannot refuse!! And it's this simple concept that's the backbone of any successful sales proposition you make. (Just do what the mafia does; however if I were you, I'd probably leave out the threats of violence in your sales piece.) If you can create powerful headlines and offers that anyone reading it would say to themselves, "My goodness, I'd have to be a complete fool not to take up this deal!" Creating a powerful offer like this is much easier than you think. Let me share with you one of the most compelling offers I've seen.

Marketers often neglect one of the most essential ingredients to success.

They don't take the time to put together their plan. They know where they want to go, but they never sit down and map out how they're going to get there... They're like football teams without a game plan. Sometimes they fluke a victory but most of the time they play with chaos. If you want to continue to grow your business: You must have a plan. Your business should be planned like a well thought out sporting match. You may lose the odd match but you will win by the end of the season. Just as the well honed footballer prepares for all possible occurrences, you must be prepared to last through the slow times, and be just as prepared to capitalise on the times when it appears you can do no wrong. The *first* step on your mission to success is to discover who you are: Know your strengths and know your weaknesses. You'll never be truly successful until you've first made an inventory of yourself. Once you've decided who you are and listed your strengths and weaknesses, the next step is to determine how much money you have to bring to the game. Only use money you can afford to lose. As any professional poker player will tell you, "Scared money never wins!" Don't mortgage your house because you've got the million dollar sure-fire winner. You'll be worrying so much you will not think straight Take little bits of money you won't miss and test all the time. You will be less stressed and when your testing hits on the secrets to success you will be ready to capitalise. Once you have a winning formula invest as much of your money as you can into the business. If you're only using money you can live comfortably without, you should place 100% back into marketing, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the fruits of your labors! The *final* step in your plan is to record everything. As all the top football coaches know the more you record the results and study, the better your future results will be. Don't rely on your memory, it does not work. Put some thought and effort into your plan and you'll be a step ahead of the competition.

The Word Free

One of the most powerful offers you can use in your advertising is the word Free. In fact it is a word that sells better than any other.

But I can hear you asking, how can I make a profit giving my products and services away without charging for them?

The reason that you can do this is the 'LVC'. This is the Life Time Value of a Client.

Let me explain how it works - Lets say you have a landscaping business, now if you get a brand new customer, they might pay on average $100 to get their Lawns Mown.

But how much is this $100 client really worth?

Most clients should continue to get their lawn mown for years and years to come.

Create a Knockout experience

The best example of a business that creates the knockout experience for their clients is the Disney Corporation, and if you have been to any of these Disney theme parks you will now what I am talking about.

The Disney corporation say-

DO WHAT YOU DO SO WELL THAT PEOPLE CAN’T RESIST TELLING OTHERS ABOUT YOU!

Plenty of business I deal with tell me that they do this through their service, the problems is that everyone does that. People don’t rave about that stuff, even if they understand it.

No, what they really rave about is coming home from a meeting with you and saying, “I didn’t know what to expect when I went in there, but, boy, that was light years better and different than anything I ever expected! or

Stop being cheap at the wrong times

It is vital that you reinvest some of your income into more marketing for your business. I know so many people who have drained the success right away from their business, because they wouldn’t spend a portion of their income back into the business.

More than anyone I enjoy doing things on the cheap in my business like recycling paper clips, or paper or reusing office stationary.

But, being cheap with your marketing is financial suicide. Pick your marketing targets and goals, and spend where it will be do one thing, and one thing only, make you more money!!!

You must have a good target List (Database)

I am sure You have heard the saying All Roads Lead to Rome. That was coined because merchants of that time new that to make real money they had to be in Rome to achieve this.

The modern day equivalent of this saying for business owners should be All roads to wealth lead to those who have the best target list or database.

It is no secret that those who are making the biggest profits in their marketing have the biggest target list, note I said target lists not lists.

The more effort you can put into building your list( or database) the more success you are going to have. The more accurate it is and the more details you have on it the more success you will achieve.
